How to: Add sensor locations to Map view

Last modified: Wednesday November 24, 2021.

Add your sensors to Map view to provide your operators with information and feedback about your protected areas.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have configured your sensors and have successfully added them to your Aware deployment.

Task — Add your sensor icons

  1. Choose Tools Tools > Map view Map view.
  2. Toggle view mode to show: Edit mode button
  3. Expand Maps.

If you cannot see the left-hand pane, click Sidebar button .

  4. Select the map to update with the sensor icons.
  5. Expand Sensors.
  6. Drag the relevant sensor to its representative position on the map.

How you locate your sensors onto the map varies depending on the type of sensor:

    • For Halo sensors — each device is a singe unit, with multiple channels. Halo sensors can report multiple parameters per sensor. Add these sensors just once in their relevant locations.
    • For Disruptive Technologies sensors — each sensor is a single unit, consisting of a single channel. Add these sensors just once in their relevant locations.
    • For generic sensors — each sensor might consist of multiple units, making up a singe group. For example, a generic temperature sensor group might include a separate sensor in each room within your building. Add each of the sensors in the group to their relevant locations in Map view.
  7. Toggle view mode Edit mode button.
When you click a sensor icon, a thumbnail of the associated camera view is displayed, with the overlay showing the name of the sensor, the camera name and the current value for that sensor. (For Halo sensors, you are shown all of your enabled parameters.)

Alta Aware displays the current values sent to it from any sensors. You cannot use Map view to view historic sensor values.
